HOW WE MET

November 9, 2016

We met at a mutual friends wedding celebration in Dallas, TX. I was living in Dallas and Clint was living in Austin. The weekend Clint came back from the wedding weekend, he told our close friends Haley Aiken and Dave Roehm, that he found the girl he was going to marry. Fast forward to over thousands of miles later in trips back and forth from Austin to Dallas and Dallas to Austin, we both got job offers a year into our relationship in the city of Houston. We never had to say goodbye again and 211 miles apart turned into calling the same place home. The rest is history. Oh, how our amazing God answers prayers.

THE PROPOSAL

October 19, 2018

The first international trip Clint and I took together was to Costa Rica. On that first trip, one of the days we were in Tamarindo, we spontaneously rented a motorcycle for a couple of days to cruise around on. On our way back to our villa the first day we got it, we wanted to cruise up to the highest point of Playa Flamingo (where we were staying) to watch the sunset. When we got to the highest point, we also found this amazing gated home. 2 years later, Clint found it & booked it in plans of proposing to me. He made it seem like it was a trip for my birthday (October 18th) and invited some of our closest friends to join us. When we got to Costa Rica, the weather was rainy almost every single day, except for the last day... He was waiting for a sunny day to propose. On our last full day there, the sun came out for the first time since we got there. It was the day! He had original plans to do it on a catamaran we were taking out at sunset but was told there would be another group joining us. So, he decided to do it at the house on the lawn overlooking the water. I'll never forget that moment. I had just gotten out of the pool and he called me over to get up and walk with him down to the lawn. When he walked over to me, the clouds were overcast a bit so he knew he had to do it soon in case the sky decided to turn gray. Then, as he was walking me down to propose, the sun came out beaming down on both of us in that exact moment. It was like God was giving us our moment and smiling & shining down on us. And with a few sweet words and tear-filled eyes, he asked me to marry him. And I, of course, said yes.
