LAX is the closest and largest international airport to Santa Barbara. The drive from LAX to Santa Barbara is 100 miles/2 hours on average. We highly recommend taking the coast route if you are driving! Here are some of our favorite stops along the way: Malibu -Malibu Farm, Cafe Luxxe, Broad Street Oyster Co. Summerland- Field and Fort, Dart Coffee Co., Summerland Beach Cafe Ojai (slight detour but worth it!)- The Dutchess, Highly Likely
Train
The Amtrack Pacific Surfliner is a great option if you do not want to rent a car. It runs along the coast between LA and Santa Barbara and leaves from LAX.
