I would recommend flying into CVG in Cincinnati. There is an airport in Huntington, WV as well, but there will not be direct flights. Once you are in Cincinnati, Ashland is about a 2.5 hour drive away (and Portsmouth about 2 hours)

Another option will be the John Glenn airport in Columbus, OH. I believe this is the only other close airport that will have direct flights from Boston. It will be just about a 2 hour drive to Ashland or Portsmouth
