The Story of Us

🏊‍♂️💜 No Swimsuit, No Wahala

It all started at Erata Hotel, where two squads, mine and hers, had planned a chill swim hangout. Everyone came ready to hit the pool… except this one girl. No swimsuit, just vibes. I remember thinking, “Ah, who’s this that dey see ein body like that?” Her name was Beatrice. I smiled, said hello, and had no clue that I was meeting someone who would one day become my everything. We stayed friends for a whole year. I had clocked early on that she was different, not just pretty but principled. I still remember her saying she wouldn’t date until she was working because she didn’t want to be a burden on her future partner. That hit deep. I admired it. I admired her. There was one random afternoon during that season. She was prepping for exams, and I passed by the library just to check in. A quick 10-minute visit in the car, full of laughter and subtle tension, before she insisted she had to get back to studying. I offered to drive her closer to the entrance. No big deal. She opened the door, stepped out… and let’s just say, the universe decided to add its own drama. She found herself in the gutter. No scratches, no bruises, just shock, a burst of laughter, and a moment that lives rent-free in both our memories. To this day, we still laugh about it. Because in that brief, unexpected moment, she quite literally fell for me. Eventually, I pulled the classic “let’s drive and talk” move. I asked her to meet me at Wesley Cathedral in Accra, and we drove around for a bit. I got all serious and laid it out: how I felt, what I saw for us, the future I imagined. She received it graciously… Then gave me the iconic Ghanaian “I’ll think about it”, the polite way of saying “hmm, let’s see.” So we waited. Life moved. A whole year later, we crossed paths again, and somehow the conversation picked up like it had never ended. This time, there was no “I’ll think about it.” Just us. Now here we are, planning a wedding, a life, and still cracking each other up every single day. She teases me constantly about “getting back in shape,” and I make it my life’s mission to roast her for being a full-blooded Palladium diva. Nothing’s off-limits, and that’s what we love about us: It’s real. It’s raw. It’s ridiculously fun.
