How our love started is not your typical story. Clayton & I met at a huge car meet in Atlanta, Georgia called import alliance in 2019. We both lived in the Greenville, SC area at the time and hung around the same people but had never formally met. For some reason I guess the timing was not right and after that initial meeting we didn't speak again until the summer of 2019 when Clay messaged me on Facebook wanting to get to know me. We chatted back and forth but were still just friends and nothing really came of it. At this time I was in a relationship and the timing was still just off. I am still puzzled at how Clay didn't give up after nothing happening between us for so long. Then, around a year later, in January of 2020, Clayton messaged me through Instagram and we began chatting for a few weeks. We FaceTimed, flirted, and one weekend, we went on our first date to J. Peters in Mauldin and went to church together the next morning. We began dating on February 9th of 2020. Two years later, we are getting married. I can't believe that a friendship turned into a lifetime together!
Clay + I had been together for about 8 months when I reached out to my sweet friend, Kait, to do pictures for us. We had planned the entire day out for both of us to take off work, get all dolled up, drive an hour and a half to Sassafras Mountain in Sunset, SC, go to the top of the mountain and have Kait capture some dreamy couples pictures for us. Little did I know, that the previous week Clay had gone with a friend to get my engagement ring and then let Kait know that he was proposing during our pictures. The funniest part of this story is that Clay actually almost ruined the surprise by telling me he was proposing soon and naturally I was suspicious. The big day finally came. I got all dolled up and we were on our way. When we arrived we got right into the picture taking. Kait took us to a spot right on the top of the mountain that overlooked the valley. If I close my eyes, I can still see it. I remember Kait posing me in front of Clay with my back to him, and her directing me to shout the thing I love the most about Clay when I turned around. When I turned around Clay was on one knee. He smiled as big as he could and I opened my mouth in shock! I was so surprised and I started to shed a few tears - he said some very sweet words and ultimately asked me to marry him. SPOILER ALERT - I said yes! I am so happy we get to spend the rest of our lives together and even more happy we get to share this next chapter of our lives with all of you!
