To preface my story, I DO NOT believe in love at first sight, so here goes… Lea and I had spanish class together. The first time I noticed her was when we had to do an in-class “how to” presentation all in spanish. Although I do not remember what I presented on, I remember that she came in with her hair down, wearing a jean jacket. She walked to the front of the class, obviously nervous. I thought she was so cute, beautiful and talented as she played her guitar. I IMMEDIATELY knew that she was special and that I wanted to get to know her. Within the coming days we had a game of spanish jeopardy where Lea and I were on a team. Whether we won or lost skips my mind because I wasn’t paying much attention to the game, but instead Lea’s beautiful blue eyes and bright smile had my eyes. We found out that we had to make a video presentation of a news cast, so I asked Lea and a friend named Raines to work with me. As a cover to get Lea’s number, I asked them both for their phone numbers so that we could keep in contact. While working on the project, Raines saw us flirting. Lea went to get into costume and Raines told me “she doesn’t even like you that much.” Within two or three days we were rubbing that statement in Raines’ face.
The first day I noticed Clayton was my junior year of high school in Spanish class. It was during a game of Spanish Jeopardy. We were placed on the same team, and I don't remember how our team did, but I know I won that day. At the time I met him I happened to be in a stand-still relationship that I was already considering ending. I saw Clayton, and was captivated by his bright blue eyes, and amazing smile, the first thing I remember thinking, was "Crap, he's cute". I flirted with him, and he made me laugh during the whole game, (I think one of our other team members got mad about it) and after we talked a little more. He mentioned his trip to Haiti, and my next thought was, "Crap, he's cute, AND into missions... WOW". I went home and ended that other relationship. He asked me to be his partner in a video group project a couple days later (he said it was because I was on the news team and knew how to make and edit videos, but we all know the truth). About a week later we officially started our relationship, and the rest is history.
To start off, I like to think I'm difficult to surprise... He surprised me... (Yes, he's proud) We had been talking about marriage for a while, and been ring shopping a couple times to figure out what I liked. He told me that he wasn't going to propose on Christmas or New Year's Eve, because it was "cliche". What he did not tell me was that he custom designed the ring, and ordered it around Thanksgiving, and it arrived in December. He held onto, and kept it a secret until he proposed. New Year's Eve comes around, and I had to work, but after I was heading back to his house to celebrate. I get there and we spend time together and with his family. The time comes for the ball to drop, we stand up, count it down, and kiss. He then got down on one knee, and I was so shocked and excited all I could say was "are you kidding x 8". He waited until 12:01 new year's DAY, so he could surprise me. He even hid a go-pro and recorded the whole thing (We'll link it below) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6sT7oxc4QM
