Dear friends and family, Surprise! We’ve kept our lives relatively low profile over the past year and cannot wait to share a little bit about our story with you. We met in 2019 at the University of South Carolina. Just a handshake, an interview, and one semester together in college. The extra semester that Clayton decided she would take right before her scheduled graduated earlier that spring. Back then, it was friendship, group trips, laughter with friends and a kind of ease that only happens when someone already feels like home. Life moved forward, as it does. Clayton moved to LA. Tyler joined the Army. But somehow, our short check-ins later turned into long conversations. The kind of conversations where you start talking about your day and end up talking about everything because you end up in LA traffic for hours and hours every day. Three hours would pass, and we’d still be on the phone, smiling in the dark. It hit us. We knew this wasn’t just friendship anymore. But denial was also an option. The safe option. So we chose that for a little while longer. It was something deeper, something that had been waiting for the right time to arrive. And when it did, it felt simple. It felt certain. It felt like home, again. On paper, our story might look complicated when you look at the distance, timing and the unknowns of life. But love doesn’t live on paper. It lives in letters, in laughter, in tiny moments when you look at someone and see forever. It lives in the next right step, not the finished plan. Tyler likes to say, “We don’t have to solve world peace today.” And that’s kind of become our mantra: one day at a time, one choice at a time, choosing each other. So here we are! Married, grateful, and still learning to make every day a little special, no matter how busy life gets. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you, our friends and family who’ve watched our story unfold, and the ones who make every part of it feel even more like home. With love, Clayton & Tyler
