In 2016, Mitchell drove down to Greeley from Fort Collins to pick up his Tinder match for a quick lunch date. Many more lunch dates turned into evening dates and they finally went steady. Mitchell surprised his family that he had a girlfriend by bringing her on their family vacation in Frisco without telling his mom. They did in fact have to sleep in separate bedrooms. Mitchell was working with his dad at his custom cabinet shop, where he learned every skill set he needed to make Claysa’s eccentric projects come true. In 2017, Mitchell made the drastic mistake of leaving Fort Collins to live with Claysa in Greeley, along with 2 other roommates. This was the only year when Mitchell was to receive a packed lunch every day and a hand-written sticky note. This year Claysa’s car broke down, and Mitchell and his Dad shared one vehicle so Claysa could use the other to get around town. Mitchell and his Dad didn’t complain once. In 2018, Claysa graduated from UNC and they moved up to Fort Collins where they had their very first apartment together. This was also the year they adopted Moose. Claysa got her first big girl job, and Mitchell had his car back and a shorter trek to work every morning. In 2019, Claysa and Mitchell moved into a house. Mitchell finally got to go see Michigan play at the U of M with his Dad. They also went on another family vacation with the Moffett family to Disneyland, they were allowed to have their own room this time! In 2020, Claysa decided to go to Grad school (thanks to Mitchell being so supportive and slightly pushy). This was the year that Mitchell found out he loved to cook – was good at it – and Claysa never took on that responsibility again. In 2021, Mitchell finally proposed! It was February 9th, and freezing outside. Mitchell had made plans for the two of them to go on a hike at the ponds – one of Claysa’s favorite spots. It didn’t matter that they never do this in the Wintertime when it was 20 degrees outside. Mitchell also made a comment the evening before that Claysa should do her nails – also something he has never done before. Bundled up and with eager suspicion, the two of them, and Moose went for a morning walk. Claysa was freezing, and Mitchell was notably sweaty. They walked across the bridge, where he dropped to one knee and asked Claysa to marry him. In 2022, Claysa was promoted within her company and started her internship as a Counselor. They also went on vacation to Hawaii to visit Maddie and Mitch. There were also sharks, turtles, an air mattress, and golf involved there somewhere. In 2023, Claysa graduated with her Masters in Clinical Counseling! In 2024, Claysa backpacked through Europe. This was also the year when they both entered their 30’s! In 2025, they took their first real vacation to Mexico! Mitchell stopped working with his Dad at Charles Moffett Cabinet Makers (which we are forever grateful for) and accepted a position as a Project Manager for Tharp. In 2026, they got married!
