Catherine likes to joke that Dylan was her "delivery boyfriend" — as one unexpecting Friday afternoon in Brooklyn, not even living there for a full week, Dylan showed up at her doorstep and they fell in love! Catherine had just moved into Brooklyn with a roommate and they desperately needed a kitchen island assembled. Her roommate had a friend, who had a friend (Dylan) who happened to be in the area and had power tools with him. He was promised free wine and pretty girls in exchange for his service, so of course he agreed. Everyone exchanged greetings and sat around getting to know each other over a bottle of Trader Joe's rose wine (our taste for wine has since grown...). They quickly decided building the island was not going to happen at that time, and opted to head to a nearby bar as a group. While Dylan + Catherine still disagree on how they got each other's numbers, the important thing is they were in fact exchanged, and the rest is history. They soon began a NYC romance & had the best year together, falling in love in the city that never sleeps.
During the past three+ years, we've developed a love of cooking + drinking wine together — as this is still our favorite way to catch up on life. One evening while dining at our favorite restaurant in Brooklyn, we saw "Orange wine" on the menu and neither of us had heard about it. We decided to try a glass, but did not know it was about to furl a new journey for us. Slowly we began trying other Orange wines until we found one we loved as much. It was so interesting to us that every sip of Orange wine was extremely different, yet was still labeled as "Orange wine". It was because of this night that our journey of sampling and exploring wines together started; from Pinot Noir, to skin-fermented chardonnays, to chilled light and slightly sparkling reds from Beaujolais, we've developed a connection through exploring various grapes. This all culminated into two trips to Wine Country together in the fall of 2021. During our second trip to Sonoma in October 2021, everything was about to change and both Dylan & Catherine knew. When Dylan felt Cat’s gel-nail polish, he knew that she knew — and she knew that he knew she knew — but it was all unspoken and left for the surprise moment. As you guessed, it was on that trip where our love of wine brought us into a life-long commitment with each other, when Dylan proposed under a large oak tree, as we sipped skin-fermented chardonnay at Catherine's favorite winery, while we basked in the sunshine of Sonoma, all the feelings of love.
