It all started when I (Claudia), commented on a video of Spencer dancing and asked "do you promise to always bring those dance moves with you everywhere you go?" That's when I should've known that I'd be in for a lifetime of... groovy dance moves and terrible dad jokes. I tried scaring him away by cancelling our first date, and providing a lame excuse. But he insisted that he still wanted to meet me and knew of a cute brunch spot. Our first (real) date was at The Filling Station in the Orange Circle later that week. Spencer, of course, was late and used Ellie as an excuse, but we hit it off immediately! And here we are, two years later planning the wedding of our dreams in the backyard of our new home.
I chuckle every time someone asks about our proposal, especially when they ask if Claudia knew it was going to happen. There were a couple major giveaways that I was going to propose in Greece. Early on in our dating phase, I asked Claudia the location of her dream proposal. My thought process was that if I asked early on, that by the time I proposed, she would have forgotten that she told me and it would be easy brownie points. As many of you might know, I am the goldfish in this relationship, which means Claudia remembered this conversation, but I did not :) The instant that I asked Claudia if she wanted to travel to Greece, she knew shit was going down. If that wasn’t a big enough giveaway, I needed her help securing a photographer. With the photographer secured, the location decided, and dinner plans set, all I needed was a speech. I exercised my procrastination skills to the max and decided the day off, that I would wing it. What is the worst that could happen.... It was a silent engagement. I said zero words, there were only tears. After a couple moments of silence, Claudia asked if I was going to put the ring on her finger. It was a beautiful moment. We both cried. I have never been happier. Oh, and Greece was AMAZING!! The food, the people, the WINE - we loved it. 10/10 would recommend, especially Crete.
