How We Met

11/7/2021

His: It was a typical Sunday until it wasn't. There I was waiting for service to start and in came the girl who I didn't know at the time, but the girl that would change my life forever. A casual introduction was made and who would've thought a simple Hi nice to meet you would then turn into wanna hang out for the whole day eating melted ice cream and stay at a friend's house watching pretty women til we all pass out and wake up wondering why did we do that to ourselves. I had nominated myself to buy the ice cream that day and it came in handy in the long run because what happened was. Claudia wanted to pay me back for it and well wanted to send me money and to do so she needed my number now mind you I had no feelings for her yet, so it was no big deal. It wasn't til she sent me the money that I decided to keep txting her to get to know her. Just as a friend of course. About a month into our friendship we had a routine. You see she was in school and I just worked so after she got out of school and me from work we would go on walks. It was through these walks that I noticed just how beautiful of a person she was inside and out. Also, all the qualities she had set her so far apart from all the other girls I've ever known or met in my life. This out-of-state girl was winning me over and I didn't even notice it. Fast forward a couple of months later I finally confessed to her how I felt about her and came to find out she was feeling the same. We were both on the same page and knew that we would only date knowing that it led to marriage so only one last test was to be had and it was the make-or-break question. "Would you be willing to move to South Carolina if marriage is the goal?" There I was pondering my life and thinking and praying and asking God if this was the plan all along for this relationship. After a couple of minutes I responded with yes and the shock on her face said it all. We were in love and couldn't wait to start the real journey. Two years later, we find ourselves engaged and reminiscing on the first this and first that. What was only meant to be a passing hello turned into my best friend and lifelong favorite person in the world. Hers: After moving to California during COVID and everything being closed or shut down. I need to think of ways to meet people in this new area. I started church hoping and looking to see where I could meet people and build community. I recently heard of and started attending Harvest in Riverside. After my second time at this church, I sat with the young adults' section and told myself I needed to introduce myself to one person at the church. I introduced myself to a girl who ended up introducing me to Michael. While I wasn't looking for anything at the time, we hung out that day with a group of friends. Michael had paid for ice cream and I insisted on paying him back. But of course, he only had Apple Pay and needed my number. I still think this was his plan all along. We continued to be friends and enjoyed each other's company for some time before starting to date. The rest is history! Thankful to him for giving me a home away from home.
