The name Ulu Laʻau means “Garden of Trees.” The Park is a 10-acre parcel of State land in the heart of Waimea town, leased by Waimea Outdoor Circle for environmental research, education and restoration. The Park’s location at about 2,600 feet elevation near Waimea’s “dry side” but frequently affected by “wet side” weather patterns, make possible the growing of a wide range of species from both the wet and dry uplands.

Volcano Golf Course Lies in the rim of the active Kilauea Volcano, and is is one of the world’s most unusual courses. It lies in the cool highlands 4,000 feet about the sea, with sweeping vistas of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea (both snow capped in winter). Pohoiki black sand beach is one of the newest (August 2018) black sand beaches on the Big Island and is part of Isaac Hale Beach Park. This is a very beautiful beach in the Puna district.
MANTA RAY NIGHT SNORKEL During the manta ray night snorkel you will spend your time in the water holding onto a floating board looking down. The bright light also attached to this board shines down into the water attracting plankton. The manta rays feed this plankton and come very close to the water surface while feeding. It is not possible to do “free snorkeling” during the tour because your snorkel and fins can hurt the manta rays. Touching them can remove their protective skin coating and the mantas will likely leave if touched. There are many companies on the Kona coast that take you out at night on the manta ray night snorkel. The zipling tours organized by the Umaumau experience are 16-miles north of Hilo and close to the very scenic Umauma falls.
