Crossing the border can feel daunting, so we've ranked the best ways based on your travel documents. **Essential Checklist** - Valid Passport Book or Card: Ensure it doesn't expire during the wedding weekend. - Cash (Pesos/USD): For toll roads (~$10 each way if driving). Wineries and hotel accept credit cards. ### Route Options Ranked (Fastest to Slowest) šŸ„‡ **Option 1: Express Track (Driving with SENTRI / Global Entry)** **Wait:** Usually 15 mins or less on Sunday. **Catch:** Every passenger needs a physical SENTRI/GE card AND the vehicle must be pre-registered in CBP's Trusted Traveler system. 🄈 **Option 2: Fast Track (Driving via Ready Lane)** **Wait:** Usually 1–2.5 hours on Sunday afternoon. **Catch:** Every passenger (16+) needs an RFID-enabled card (U.S. Passport Card or GE/SENTRI). Standard CA REAL IDs and Passport Books do *not* qualify. šŸ„‰ **Option 3: The Wedding Bus ($95/person RT)** The plan is for the bus to stop at an amazing oceanfront restaurant on the way down for lunch. *RSVP ASAP so we can secure enough space.* **Wait:** Sunday pedestrian lines take 45 mins–2 hours (15 mins with GE/SENTRI). Expedited line available for an extra $5/person. **Schedule:** 1. **Board:** Friday, Sept 18 at our La Jolla house. 2. **San Ysidro Pedestrian Crossing:** Bus drops you on the US side. Walk through PedEast, present passport, get FMM permit stamped (20–30 mins). 3. **Re-Board:** Immediately across the gate in Mexico. 4. **Direct Shot:** 1.5-hour drive to Maglen Hotel. (Reverse on Sunday.) 🐌 **Option 4: Standard Lanes (Standard Passport Books)** **Wait:** General lanes routinely take 3–4+ hours on Sunday afternoon. *If driving, purchase temporary Mexican Auto Insurance online before crossing.*
