Matt & Clara were introduced by friends during the first week of the school year in September 2016— he was the first Texan Clara met at the University of Michigan! Naturally, they went on their first date to a Michigan vs. Texas basketball game with a group of friends and found themselves on their first solo date soon after. Over the next six years, they spent summers enjoying sweltering Austin and freezing their way through Michigan winters, all the while sharing their love of camping, hiking, music, adventures, and breakfast tacos. After college, they spent a year long-distance, but they were unable to bear it for too long and Matt moved to Chicago. They moved into their first home together and love spending their time biking around Chicago and exploring the city. In July 2022, Matt led Clara to their “spot” on Lake Michigan and asked her to marry him— she said YES!
