How We Met

Ripon High: Spring 2009

It all began with an awkward 'Hello'. Sarah thought Tanner was the most annoying individual on the face of the Earth. Unbeknownst to her, this was because they were one in the same person. Tanner thought Sarah was extremely adorable, but she most definitely got on his last nerve very quickly. It twas not long before the aforementioned love birds bonded over horror movies and TacoBell. Many a long night were spent in the Anderson Home Theater watching movies through all hours. After a brief hiatus of communication, Tanner and Sarah spent a wonderful night in the park watching 'Up' with the community. As the cold winds blew, and the sitting blanket became a cuddling blanket, these two had a simultaneous moment of clarity..."Hey, we like each other." After another brief hiatus, they were like a sitcom that just wouldn't be canceled, they rekindled their feelings for each other and reconnected via none other than the infamous 'Book of Faces'. Tanner & Sarah developed a budding romance leading Sarah to move to San Francisco. The rest is really history, and those of you reading this now have the great pleasure of attending their beautiful wedding.

The Proposal

Clarke River House: July 2, 2017

It was the perfect opportunity. Tanner had been planning this momentous occasion for months and now the time had finally come. The car was packed, the ring was hidden, and the fun was about to begin. Tanner was, for lack of a better phrase, sh@%$&ng bricks, hoping Sarah would not find the ring he so tentatively hid in his suitcase. The trip had begun, and the River House was only a couple hours away. The weekend started wonderfully, games and debauchery were abundant, and the food was oh so delicious. As the weekend came to a close, the squad, comprised of Sarah, Tanner, Sean, and Sara-Catherine, went on a champagne tasting escapade. Although Sarah had left her only form of identification to prove she was old enough to partake in the consumption of the delicious elixir, the journey did not end! Back at the River House dinner was being served. As the meal concluded, a request to stow the chairs away was entrusted upon the couple. As they walked down toward the dock the nerves set in. His heart pounding in his chest and body temperature rising, Tanner followed Sarah to the dock and cleaned up the chairs. As she turned to leave the dock, Tanner grabbed her arms and said, "You know, we bought that champagne for more than one reason". He began to kneel as the tears welled up in both their eyes. "Sarah, I love you more than anything..." is all he was able to get out before he watched his bride to be turn bright red and begin to cry. "Will you marry me?" he asked. "Of course," she mustered up. With joyous tears they kissed and embraced and filled the remainder of the night with merriment and love.
