Joe and I met in middle school during our traveling basketball days but only knew of each other in the capacity of weekend tournaments and mutual friends. We didn’t get much face time with each other since we went to different middle schools, but thankfully we ended up going to the same high school. You might think this is where our love story officially begins but for the first 3 years of high school, we spoke to each other (every single day) strictly through snapchat despite sitting at the same lunch table, and hanging out near the same lockers before class. I developed a crush on Joe in 11th grade, but kept it to myself which was the obvious thing to do, but the next best thing to do was to ask him (through snapchat most likely) to wear my basketball jersey on game day- which he did. We took a picture for proof of transaction, and then continued to mostly ignore each other in person until senior year. Once senior prom season started to roll in however, we both gathered enough courage to start speaking to each other in person although sparingly and not without awkward pauses and shortened sentences; but that ultimately lead to Joe driving to my house to say that he would be “Beary happy if [I] went to prom with [him]” {insert picture of Joe handing me a stuffed bear to go along with his promposal}. Now again, you may be thinking this is where our love story begins, and you would be mostly correct, but we didn’t start dating until months later at the start of our first years of college. Since September of 2016 Joe and I have had many late night FaceTime calls, have said the words “I miss you” hundreds of times, have gone on many (many) ice cream dates, and have shared endless laughs and memories together. We are so excited to start a new journey, to continue to grow, laugh, and build our lives together. We would like to thank you all for cheering us on all these years, and ask that you continue to do so- as long as we both shall live.
