Over the Summer we were on the same mission trip. After prioritizing the mission and never really discussing the feelings that happened to be growing in our friendship and into our desire for a different kind of relationship we found ourselves the day after the mission ended and our team was at a hotel. Gage had to get gas for the return of the van and when he asked if people needed or wanted to go with him, the whole team actually traveled to the station after they each needed different things. Gage and I went to the gas station in the same car and kind of small talked on the way. When we were heading back to the hotel Gage suddenly said, "I don't know what else to say as I am not smooth or anything so I'm just gonna ask. I would like to get to know you and date you. Would you be open to that?" I immediately shut down and thought I misheard him. I then curled up into a fetal position on the seat and didn't speak for a minute. As the minute slipped by Gage spoke up saying, "Ummm, I think I grossly misread the situation. I'm Sorry." This caught my attention and I suddenly sat up and yelled (accidently) "NO!!" This seemed to catch Gage by surprise as he sort of sat there and stared at me. He finally said, " So you do or don't want to?" I finally gave him his answer that I did indeed want to but wanted to take some time to ensure it was a healthy and good relationship so I took time to pray and read my bible and we began dating in October after 3 months of stressing Gage out.
