Our Start to Forever

Throughout December 2014, Sarah and Michael started talking and becoming closer. Come New Year's Eve, we were determined to find something fun for our first official date. After that night, we decided to see where this non-traditional couple would go. Sure enough, we made it through three and a half years of a long distance relationship while I was at school (Michael is a saint for sticking with me through nursing school) and we never missed a New Year's Eve together. In April 2019, once out of school and looking forward to starting our life together, we bought our first house! The trend continued...our first NYE in our home was more than I could've asked for. Michael and I celebrated the New Year and our journey at a local tap room. When midnight struck, my heart skipped a beat, expecting Michael to get down on one knee. How could he not? New Year's Eve is our day... The realization that we were not engaged hit me on our walk home. Although I was surprised that my wish did not come true, I refused to let it ruin the night. Now, for those of you who don't know, Jefferson Fire Department puts on a WONDERFUL firework show for 4th of July, so we expected the same for New Year's Eve. Unfortunately they didn't set any off, so instead Michael and I were looking for shooting stars and fireworks across the sky in our backyard when we got home. While I did not see sparkles in the sky, when I turned around, there was quite the sparkle in Michael's eyes, holding an even brighter sparkle in his hands. Down on one knee, on New Year's Eve, at our home, I said the easiest yes I could have imagined. Well, there you go. Our story, and the rest is yet to be written. We cannot wait to celebrate our undeniable love with everyone!
