Bantam Pub
This was our first date. Small corner pub located on Atlanta's Beltline. Get the grilled chicken sandwich. Its not as basic as it sounds. If you have the time, walk across the street to Venkman's for a great cocktail and some of the city's grooviest live music.
"Pizza in the Park"
***Weather Permitting*** This is Nancy's all-time favorite date that we have only done once: Pizza in the park is exactly what it sounds like. Start by picking up a pizza at Veruni Napoli on Monroe Dr. (we recommend the "Pako"). Then drive up Piedmont Rd. and park for free in the neighborhood streets across from the ATL Botanical Gardens. Take a walk through the gardens on your way to an open spot in a field of your choice in ATL's Piedmont Park for a steamy sunset slice. Recommended packing list: - Blanket - Bottle of wine (21 and older) - Camera phone. She will want to put it on The Gram
Willy's Mexicana Grill
Atlanta's best burrito. Enough said. Clark will buy your first burrito if you can be the first text him the answer to this trivia question. In December of 2018 Nancy invited Clark to join her at a Children's Healthcare benefit concert featuring this former-superstar musician. Who was the musician?
Bobby Jones Golf Course
We have probably walked over 100 miles on the paved loop sidewalk around this park and golf course. Start at Clark's former residence (31 Peachtree Hills Ave.). Say hey to Adam and the guys and then begin your stroll up Peachtree Road to the trailhead. Located at the base of Colonial Homes Dr, this 2 mile loop trail takes you around the newly-renovated Bobby Jones park and golf course. Suitable for walking or biking, the paved sidewalk has enough topography changes to get your heart rate going while also giving you a glimpse of the city's best and worst scratch golfers. Enjoy the sound of Peachtree Creek's rushing water as you parallel one of Atlanta's lesser known trout streams. You will reach the park's summit along Northside Dr, take note of the unique skyline view which is now blocked by the massive new Piedmont Hospital building.
Cross Creek Golf Club
Clark is not known for his golf game, but when he does decide to chase the white ball he typically looks no further than the Cross Creek Par 3. Located just a stone's throw from the Koenig family home, this semi-private country club is one of Buckhead's best kept secrets. Sporting a 3.9 star rating for Value on Golfadvisor.com, this course is the perfect place to spend $20 and an afternoon with the guys. Be careful not to slice your tee shot on 6 or it might end up on I-75.
Thrasher Park
If paying for parking and sitting in traffic bother you, let us invite you to venture north to suburbia (aka. God's Country). A thriving small town northeast of the city limits, Norcross is Clark's hometown and one of Gwinnett County's more historic landmarks. Thrasher Park is the community's local gathering spot. On a Friday night you might catch a middle aged Jimmy Buffett lookalike singing in the amphitheater or an Eagles cover band playing late until 10pm or so. On a Saturday morning you might come across a classic car shows or local artist market. Either way, this well-maintained public park is a perfect reflection of responsible local government spending.
