Flight

Travel Option A - Fly to Yorkshire [Leeds/Bradford Airport] & Return. (Has 1 stop over)

Unfortunately, there are currently no direct flights from US to the North of England. So you would fly to Leeds/Bradford airport via Amsterdam with KLM or you can book with any air company (e.g. British Airways) to London Heathrow. Then, you would need to separately book a second flight to Leeds. There are no flights to Leeds from Gatwick.

Train

Travel Option B - Fly to London & travel by rail to Yorkshire

Landing at Heathrow or Gatwick – you’re aiming for London Kings Cross rail station. You have several options after landing: · From Heathrow: Travel via rail on the Heathrow Express or the Elizabeth line to Paddington station OR From Gatwick: Travel via rail on the Gatwick Express to Victoria station. (circa £15- 25 each & 35 mins).

Train

Travel Option B Continued

· Then travel by the London Underground to London Kings Cross Rail station (£3 & 15 mins). Once you get to London Kings Cross then you need to get the rail to Leeds. Trains depart for Leeds every 30 minutes all day up until 23:35 (11:35pm). The journey time is 2 hours and 15 minutes to Leeds. We can collect you from Leeds or there is a short commuter train from Leeds to Skipton (20 mins).

TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS (please read carefully)

If you have any questions on your travel or what to do on your trip to the UK, please let us know. Below are your Travel Options: London Airports: London Heathrow (recommended) and London Gatwick Local Airport: Leeds Bradford Airport (only connects from Heathrow twice a day) Rail: London Kings Cross to Leeds. Clarks family will collect you at Leeds airport/rail station. Bus or Car There are multiple options direct to London Heathrow or London Gatwick from the west coast both direct and with stop overs. Of course, you can break up your journey and spend a few days in London before or after the wedding. See travel option A. The KLM route is good value for money and gets you to Yorkshire. The downside is a) the layover time at Amsterdam or Heathrow will vary – you need at least 90 mins b) you’re stuck in Amsterdam if anything goes wrong c) there are only 2 flights per day from Amsterdam and Heathrow to Leeds. See travel option B. You can also take a taxi from Heathrow to London Kings Cross it’s around £60, which will be cheaper than the rail for over 3 people. [Gatwick is the wrong side of London]. As soon as you arrive at the airport you need to google LNER and look at the times and prices of the different trains going from Kings Cross to Leeds, allowing a good 90 mins from the airport AFTER clearing security. You must get on your booked train, or you will be charged again. The rail fair during peak times can be £80 single (one way) and £140 return (round trip), however on the LNER website you can see all the options, seat availability and prices which are usually around £40 off peak. All London public transport is busy, safe and used by everyone. Tickets must be purchased from the airport, however on the London Underground you can tap your credit/debit card to enter/exit rather than buy tickets.

TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS Continued

Another option is to hire a car – 5-hour drive on busy motorways between London and Leeds/Bradford. Last option is to travel by bus from London Victoria Bus station. By far the cheapest mode of transport is via coach circa £20 depending on pre booking and time of day. The journey time is 5-6 hours from London Victoria to Leeds or Bradford and 7 hours from Heathrow to Bradford. As with all travel, if it all goes well its amazing, but sometimes it doesn’t. We’ve stayed at hotels at Heathrow and Gatwick, and experienced delays. From Leeds, sometimes you can be bumped until the next day..so please do factor that in. Whatever option you choose..let us plan it with you, we will send you the step-by-step guide. Looking forward to seeing you in August 2024!
