We met at York College of Pennsylvania where we both played soccer. A mutual friend introduced us one day after practice. After the quick, awkwardly exchanged 'hellos' - we continued to chat before and after every practice. Then we started meeting for lunch, hanging out together with both teams and watching each others games as often as we could. This began our journey.
Every year the YCP men's soccer team has an alumni game. This year it was going to be played under the new stadium lights, so we knew we had to be there. After the game, Tanner gave the classic 'thanks for coming to play speech'. He told everyone about his time at York College - where he was able to play the sport he loves, meet his life long friends and talked about YCP being where we met. He continued on by explaining the big year we had so far - buying a house, getting a puppy and stated that there was only one thing left to do. He took off his goalie gloves, pulled out the ring box, got down on one knee and proposed - on the soccer field, under the lights. Absolutely perfect.
