Believe it or not, Brycen and I grew up just 3.7 miles away from each other in Kennesaw, Georgia. We went to different elementary schools, middle schools and ended up at the same high school. Unfortunately, we never met each other in high school. We joke that we had to have crossed paths at some point in the hallways. We knew little about each other being in different grades (which Brycen often reminds me), having different friend groups, and being involved in different sports. It all started at our good friends’ high school graduation party summer of 2016. I had just gotten back from my first year at the University of West Georgia (Go Wolves) and Brycen had just graduated from high school. We were introduced to each other after learning that Brycen was attending West Georgia that fall. After learning more about each other that day, our phone numbers were exchanged, and our friendship began. Brycen and I remained friends throughout college. We were both heavily involved in sorority and fraternity life and stayed busy getting the college experience. We would often see each other on campus and at parties around Greek life. My heart lit up every time I saw Brycen. There were nights we laughed and talked for hours. We were truly very good friends! After college, we went about our lives and rekindled shortly after. We chatted for hours one day…It seems like we never stopped talking since that day. We caught up as friends; learned about each other’s careers and life after college. There wasn’t a day that went by without hearing from Brycen. In February of 2020, Brycen lost his mother, Sally Colon. During this time, I saw Brycen’s heart break into two pieces. I was absolutely devastated for Brycen and his family. My heart ached every day for Brycen as he was grieving this tragic loss. I gave Brycen some space during this time. We didn’t talk as often until it was apparent that we needed each other. After a long “situationship”, Brycen got the nerve to ask me out. Since our first date, our relationship has been full of lots of love and laughter. Brycen and I truly have something very special. We continue to grow and live each day to the fullest. We are so excited to take this next step in our life and we can’t wait to celebrate our love with you on March 29, 2025!
