I was heading back to Boston in 2018 to start my first physical therapy co-op. My then roommate and current bridesmaid, Brianna Storms, was working at Baker Hughes with Jared, who was on a summer internship there at the time. Storms told me she knew a perfect guy for me and invited him into the city for the 4th of July fireworks show. We instantly hit it off, talking the whole night and taking in the firework show at the Charles River. Over the following weeks, we went to Quebec City together, Toronto with a couple of coworkers, and even New Hampshire with Jared's family. In just one month, I knew he was perfect for me and I wanted to be with him. The sad part was I was beginning preseason workouts for Northeastern Volleyball and Jared was moving back to Texas at the end of his internship. We decided not to date and said goodbye, both thinking we would eventually lose touch. That obviously aged well! We kept in touch and tried to visit when we could which was obviously difficult with busy college schedules. When covid hit, my classes alternated a week online and a week in person and Jared went fully online. This gave us much more time than just a weekend to visit and we started dating. Since then, Jared graduated with his Masters and began working remotely for a large consultant firm. I had my clinicals in San Diego, Boston, and Raleigh. We continued to commit to making long distance work, racking up frequent flyer miles and surprising/visiting each other every chance we could get. I finally graduated and we moved to Chicago ~4 years after meeting in Boston on the 4th of July. In Chicago, we were finally able to see the benefit of building a foundation of trust and communication that 4 years of distance gave us. We started going to Mass together and surprising each other with weekly date nights. We had so much fun building a life together in Chicago and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Jared. He FINALLY proposed on December 29, 2023 at the highest point in Wrightwood, CA and surprised me, yet again, by flying in his family and both of our best friends. Jared and I are filled with gratitude and joy for all of the opportunities and support that God has placed in our lives. We have experienced countless blessings and are so excited for a life of love and adventure together.
