We gather to honor a beautiful Goan tradition — the Roce ceremony — reimagined with the charm and romance of the Amalfi Coast. Just as the coconut milk anointing blesses the couple with purity, love, and a prosperous married life, the Amalfi spirit surrounds us with sunshine, citrus, and celebration. The fusion of Goan heritage and Italian coastal elegance sets the tone for a joyful evening of music, laughter, and blessings as radiant as Amalfi lemons, and as enduring as Goan traditions passed through generations.

The word “roce” comes from the Portuguese word “ros” (meaning dew), but in this context, it refers to anointing with coconut milk. It marks the bride and groom’s transition from singlehood to married life and blesses them with purity, fertility, and prosperity. Family members and friends apply coconut milk and oil to the bride and groom’s skin, often mixed with turmeric or other natural ingredients. This is followed by blessings, prayers, and lots of singing (mando songs) and music. It’s joyful and festive — filled with laughter, teasing, traditional Goan food, and music. The ceremony usually takes place a day or two before the wedding.
