Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

Please let us know your attendance and how many are in your party starting now until October 1st at the latest. You can either RSVP on this website through the RSVP section or text Claire at 703-615-9495. Thank you!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We are hosting a welcome reception starting at 11 am. **Please know we are about 20 minutes south of Old Town, just past the Mount Vernon estate. Enjoy the lovely drive down the George Washington Parkway during peak Fall season. This is one of the reasons we chose this date for our wedding! Once you arrive, we will have breakfast bites, morning cocktails, and juices passed in our garden. Come early to allow time to park, valet, arrive and get settled, and enjoy the river views and the string quartet music. We don't want our guests to be rushed coming into our yard and finding a seat, so please try to arrive 30 minutes before our ceremony. Our lunch, cake cutting, and dancing should last until 3:30 or 4 PM. You are welcome to stay all afternoon, as we will be home into the evening.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Please come in weather-appropriate clothes and block heels or flat shoes for our outdoor wedding and dancing and enjoying the dock and yard. If it rains, we will be under the tent and in the house. Dresses, skirts, or nice slacks and tops or sweaters for ladies. Sport blazers, slacks, or dress khakis for gentlemen (no ties, business casual).

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please reach out to Claire: 703-615-9495. We will have a lunch buffet and have tried to offer a wide assortment of foods to allow for vegetarians and gluten sensitivities.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all. If you feel moved to give, we kindly ask that you consider supporting one of the charitable causes close to our hearts and meaningful to us. Thank you for sharing in our joy and making a difference. We have listed our causes on this website, along with links for your convenience.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Parking on our street is extremely limited. We are offering complimentary valets and have neighbors close by who are offering their driveways. We recommend carpooling and Ubering. 3163 Woodland Lane, Alexandria, VA.

Question

Will you have a seated luncheon?

Answer

No, but we will have a generous lunch buffet, passed food and drink, several open bars, and wedding cake. We will have several large tables for open seating and smaller, tall tables for standing. We will have chairs to move throughout the yard and garden as needed.

Question

How did you meet?

Answer

We met 5 1/2 years ago during COVID at Claire's Interior Design Store (pop up) in Old Town. We were friends for quite a while and enjoyed dining out once restaurants started opening up again. We started our relationship biking, hiking, talking, and sharing our life experiences. We enjoy traveling, skiing, entertaining, vineyards, pickleball, music and concerts, coworking in the yard, playing with our puppy Tate, cooking (Scott cooks and Claire cleans!), practicing our faith, and spending time with friends and family. We have a golden doodle puppy named Tate who keeps us on our toes. He is part of the wedding party! We are so excited and blessed to share our lives together and have so much to look forward to! Thank you for being a part of this celebration and for your love and support.

Question

Tell me about Scott and Claire.

Answer

Scott was born and raised in Western Loudon County, Virginia. He moved to Alexandria almost 6 years ago. He has 3 older sisters who also live in Virginia. He has a son Chad and he and his wife Melissa and 5 grandchildren live in Shenandoah Junction, WV near Harpers Ferry. Scott went to George Mason University and works for the Dept. of Defense at Ft. Belvoir, just miles from our house. (He doesn't even have time to finish his mug of coffee on his commute!) He is a huge Washington Commanders fan and Capitals Hockey fan. Claire was born in Charlottesville, VA, was raised in Charlotte, NC, and has lived in Alexandria for 37 years. She has 2 younger sisters and 3 children (2 daughters and 1 son), who are also in the DC area. She graduated from Vanderbilt University and has owned her own residential interior design business since 1990. Her studio is in the lower level of the house. (Talk about a commute!) She plays the piano and still takes lessons, but doesn't get nervous in recitals anymore!!
