What began as a backyard BBQ over Memorial Day weekend in 2022, hosted by Hailey—one of Claire’s childhood best friends—and her husband Clay, one of Rob’s former college roommates and teammates, became the start of forever for Claire and Rob. The moment Rob walked into the BBQ, he spotted an open seat next to Claire and knew he had to take it. The two spent the next few hours talking about life, their experiences playing sports in college, and professionally in Europe. From the very beginning, they instantly clicked. Before leaving that night, Rob finally worked up the courage to ask Claire for her number — under the excuse that he needed Dallas recommendations for future work trips. The next day, Clay told Claire that Rob had already called her his “dream girl.” (Not entirely sure Clay was supposed to share that after only one day!) Maybe it was the effortless conversation, their immediate connection, or Rob falling in love with Claire’s famous green goddess salad at the BBQ — whatever it was, they both knew something special had begun. Just one week later, they went on their first date and quickly became inseparable. Most weekends were spent at the beach, playing volleyball, trying new restaurants, going on adventures, and chasing sunsets together. By the end of July, Rob officially asked Claire to be his girlfriend. Their love story took on a new adventure when Claire had to move back to Dallas that September. The next year and a half of long distance only strengthened their relationship. Through nightly FaceTimes and countless trips back and forth between Texas and California, they never doubted they had found “the one” in each other. For the final six months of long distance, Rob moved to Dallas, where he got to experience Claire’s home away from home. In May 2024, they finally closed the distance and moved to Hermosa Beach together. Over the past few years, their shared love for travel has taken them all over Europe and across the U.S. and they cannot wait to continue traveling the world together forever. Early on in their relationship they knew they found the one and wanted to spend forever together. As their relationship continued to deepen, Rob knew he was ready for the next chapter. In September 2025, while Claire was in Vail celebrating one of her best friends, Barg’s, wedding, Rob spent the weekend in Colorado with Mike and Vicki and asked for their blessing to marry her. Claire’s parents were over the moon and thrilled to welcome Rob into the family. In February 2026, Rob decided it was time to ask the love of his life to spend forever with him. On February 6th, he planned the most incredible proposal and engagement weekend in Malibu. As the sun set over the ocean, with the iconic Malibu Pier in the background, Rob got down on one knee and asked Claire to marry him. The proposal was just the beginning of a truly unforgettable weekend. Surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated their engagement and the start of their forever together. Rob thought of every detail—from the perfect place to propose, to a rooftop dinner overlooking the very spot where he asked the question, a beachside barbecue and concert with friends, and a beautiful brunch with family. Now, they can't wait to celebrate their wedding with all of you in one of their favorite places in the world—Kauai.
