Patrick & I had been dating for almost 3 years. I often joked & said we have more pictures of our dogs than we do of us. In January, I asked Patrick if he would be up for a session to have pictures of us taken. He agreed. (surprisingly it was easy to convince him!) Our schedule can be very hectic on the weekend since we both work 5 days a week. The only weekend we happened to not have anything planned was the weekend of the anniversary of our first date at Sunspot. I immediately booked a session with Abigail before we made plans for that weekend. March 21st, 2020: It had rained all night Friday night, and I was afraid it was going to be too wet for our session. When I asked Patrick his thoughts, he said “let’s just get it over with.” So, we got dressed and made our way to Ijams nature center. (-never did I think Patrick was going to propose during our session!) There we met Abigail. She was so friendly and easy to connect with. I love her style of photography- she would simply give Patrick and me a task to do and would capture us as we did it. It was so so easy to feel relaxed and be ourselves. I Even with all the chaos and unknown surrounding the coronavirus, she was able to get us to laugh and for a moment all was right in the world. As our session came to a close, I was helping Abigail fold the blanket we had used for the last set of pictures. We began walking back towards the parking lot. Abigail and I were making small talk, and Patrick was not far behind us. Patrick said wait, can we take one more picture? I turned to ask him where he wanted to go- to the bridge, back to the water, the nature trail, or the field. Next thing I knew he was getting down on one knee. He pulled the ring from his jean pocket and said, “Katherine Claire, will you marry me?” Although Abigail had no idea he was planning to propose, she was able to capture the perfect pictures! I cannot thank her enough for capturing the moment!
