We met at a place where all great love stories begin - a college fraternity Halloween party. I was a princess, and he was a Cubs baseball player destined to become my prince. We kept the party going the next night and made plans to get lunch after class the following day. Lunch led to our first "official" date at a Young the Giant concert. That concert led to him driving to Pittsburgh over Christmas break to formally ask me to be his girlfriend...and now we're getting married!
We travelled to Pittsburgh to celebrate my sister's college graduation. After the ceremony and festivities on Friday, we decided to go out for a nice, quiet dinner on Saturday with just our immediate family...or so I thought. When we got to the restaurant on Mt. Washington, we went to take some family photos out on the overlook. Mid-photoshoot, he pulls away and gets down on one knee. Somewhere in the blur of emotion, I managed to say "YES," and we were engaged. This was a full circle moment. We visited Mt. Washington together for the first time the weekend he drove to Pittsburgh to ask me to be his girlfriend. We have kept the photo we took that day up on our fridge, and now we have the new photo from our engagement to join it. Thank you to my sister for sharing the spotlight with me that weekend; thank you to my future mother-in-law for driving to Pittsburgh as a surprise to celebrate with us; and thank you to our parents, family, and friends for all the thoughtful surprises and unending support. We cannot wait to celebrate the beginning of the next chapter of our lives with you!
