Our Love Story
Freshman Year
We met our first day of freshman year. Nolan had just moved to Tremont and was new to the school. We were waiting outside our spanish teacher's room and that's when we had first noticed each other. Through high school Nolan always teased Claire and would even go through her lunch box every day after lunch, but Claire didn't mind much. Nolan and Claire had random encounters, a few eye locks, text messages about working out, and teasing sessions through high school, but things didn't progress much until senior year.
Senior Year
About 4 years later Claire had finally gave in to the feeling she had about Nolan. She had always known there was something special about him and felt as though God placed him in her life for a reason. So about halfway through senior year Claire started making moves. She would try to sit by him in her classes, talk to him about the most random things, and would even go out of her way to walk through the gym where she knew he would be for basketball practice. At first Nolan would ignore Claire and didn't make any moves himself, but one day he finally gave her a chance.
The First Date
After a few months Claire finally got her date with Nolan. Nolan and Claire went on a double date with Claire's twin sister Emma and Nolan's friend Owen, because Owen and Emma both needed prom dates. Emma and Owen are also engaged now by the way. The two boys thought it would be a great idea to take the girls to a crappy bar and play pool. Claire and Emma had never played pool before so this was interesting. After that first night of hanging out Claire had Nolan hooked. They kept on talking and went on a few dates. One night Claire and Nolan had gone to the movies and that is where Nolan asked Claire to be his prom date. Claire was ecstatic and couldn't wait to go to prom with Nolan.
Dating
On March 30th 2024 Nolan asked Claire to be his girlfriend and of course Claire said yes. Claire was so excited to be his girlfriend that she literally couldn't believe it. She even texted Nolan later that night to make sure it was real. Over the year and a half that Nolan and Claire had dated they went through and did a lot. They went to prom, graduated high school, did long distance while Nolan was at college, both devoted themselves more to God, went to Florida, shared each others testimonies and life stories, laughed an uncontrollable amount, hit many lifting PRs (if you know us you get it), and grew in our love together.
Will You Marry Me?
Nolan asked Claire to marry him on May 25th 2025. Claire had planned a birthday picnic for Nolan after their Sunday church and Nolan had decided that was when he was going to ask the big question. Before eating Nolan began to pray over the food, at the beginning of what Claire thought was a normal prayer Nolan said "God thank you for my beautiful fiancee" and proceeded to get on one knee and ask Claire to marry him. Claire said yes and was so shocked. Later that day Nolan's family had Claire's family over for a celebratory dinner, a shrimp boil, and the day was so amazing.
Engagement
Since being engaged there has been much wedding planning going on. Nolan and Claire have also continued to grow their relationship with God and each other, went to Florida to visit family, celebrated other engagements and weddings, and of course have had so many joys. We continue to thank God for this amazing blessing of engagement and can't wait to see what He has in store for our marriage.
