We kindly ask that you find a sitter for the day. If this is a hardship for you, please reach out!
The wedding celebrations are taking place at an elevation of 8500’. Dehydration and alcohol hit harder than they do at sea level. Stay hydrated and eat lots of BBQ to make the most of the day!
Mountain Wedding Attire, e.g. bolo ties, cowboy boots, fall colors, and floral dresses are welcome. Comfortable shoes for standing on gravel and uneven rocky ground are strongly recommended. It can also get on the windy side. Wear what you will feel, nice and comfortable in!
There are often traffic delays on I-70. Additionally, mid-September is the start of leaf peeping season in Georgetown. If you are driving to Georgetown on Saturday, leave early, plan for possible delays, and watch Google Maps for updates on accidents or other delays. Exit 228 to Georgetown will occasionally close due to congestion. In that scenario, if coming from the East, you can exit at Idaho Springs, Dumont, or Empire and use the frontage roads to get to Georgetown. You can plan to arrive at Windswept for the ceremony anytime after 1pm. You can enjoy a Colorado beer before the ceremony at 2pm.
Windswept Cabin is only a 5 minute walk from Cabin Creek Brewery and the Microtel. If you are planning to attend the ceremony, we encourage you to park at the brewery and walk to the ceremony as there is very limited parking at Windswept. It is just across the lake from the brewery and it is a beautiful walk. If you have physical limitations, there are a few parking spots available at Windswept.
