The barn and surrounding land are owned by Lucas's family, so there is free parking on-site (which we will help direct). We encourage carpooling when able, but there will be ample space for all. We have the address posted, and once you get close just keep your eyes peeled for the Big Red Barn. PS- while the barn has heaters, it could still get a little cool in October. If you're worried about being chilly, be sure to bring a light outer layer.
No gifts! We know the venue is a bit of a drive, so the only present we expect is your presence.
Arrivals and departures are fluid- come whenever you'd like :) But we still do have a general timeline. ~3:30 to 4:00- Feel free to arrive a little early. Hors d'oeuvres will start at 4, but we want people to have a cushion in case they're worried about traffic. Since the venue is owned by our family, you'll be able to enter whenever you arrive. 4:00 to 5:00 - Cocktail hour. Finger food comes out and the bar opens up. 5:00 to 6:30 - Dinner is served! Since it's buffet style, you don't need to be here by 5 to eat. As long as you're here by 6:15 or so you'll be able to get a plate :) But if you'll be later, still come! We'll have excellent desserts and dancing right after. 6:00 to 7:15 - Live music 7:15 to 10:00 (and beyond) - Desserts will come out and the dance floor will open up. Again, the venue is ours so we have no set departure time! You can stay as late as you like.
The Pittsburgh cookie table is a wedding custom where a large table is laden with cookies baked by family and friends, which are then displayed alongside or in place of a traditional wedding cake. It's a beloved regional tradition that originated in the homes of the many European immigrants who settled in the greater Pittsburgh area where Claire's dad grew up. It emphasizes community and celebrates a couple's new life together through the generosity of baking. There is NO requirement to participate, but if you would like to, please contact Claire's mother Christine Moore (317-696-3779) or Lucas's aunt Susan Spaulding (317-501-5320) so that we can get your cookies the day prior to the wedding.
While food won't be pre-plated, we do want to make sure that we don't have too little of this or too much of that. But it isn't legally binding if you change your mind day of.
