Johnny and Claire’s love story began in Fenwick Island, DE, where Johnny grew up and Claire’s family spent their summers. Despite living in the same neighborhood, they didn’t officially meet until the summer of 2015, when Groomsman Tim Roberts introduced them. Not long after, Johnny asked for Claire’s number while she was lifeguarding on Bayard Street. That summer was just the beginning. They discovered that they went to high schools down the road from each other in Alexandria, VA—Johnny at Episcopal High School and Claire at T.C. Williams—their real connection grew through summers in Fenwick and years of long-distance dating during college. Claire went to the University of Virginia, and Johnny to the University of Delaware, and between road trips, visits, and handwritten letters, they made it work. No matter where life took them, they always found their way back to the beach. In 2020, they moved in together in Arlington, VA, and in 2023, they packed up and drove across the country to start a new chapter in California. Now, they live in Encinitas, a small beach town that suits them perfectly, where they spend their time surfing and enjoying life by the ocean. On August 24th, 2024, Johnny proposed to Claire on the cliffs at Swami’s Beach, overlooking the Pacific— a different coast, but the same love for the water that brought them together. Now, after spending nearly ten years together, Johnny and Claire can’t wait to get married in the place where it all began and celebrate with all the people they love this September!
