The Rotunda and The Lawn
Thomas Jefferson’s historic Rotunda and the Lawn are the heart of UVA grounds and the reason we love Charlottesville so much! Start your day by grabbing a coffee and bagel from Bodo’s Bagels at 1609 University Ave (UVA “Corner”). Then head over to the Lawn and enjoy a morning stroll along the brick walkways.
Humpback Rocks Hike
A favorite among UVA students, typically done as a 2-mile out-and-back loop. The hike to the Rocks can be challenging, with an elevation gain of 800’, but the panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley at the summit make the climb worthwhile. A beautiful sunrise hike!
King Family Vineyard
Enjoy a glass of wine with incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet and explore the horse stables. If you’re lucky enough to have time on Sunday, King Family Vineyard hosts the Roseland Polo match at noon.
Monticello
Visit the historic home of Thomas Jefferson, nestled just outside Charlottesville in the Piedmont region. Monticello offers tours, or explore the Monticello walking trail on the property.
Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards
Visit one of our favorite vineyards at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains! From garden to table, the food and wine are delicious and served with breathtaking views.
Carter Mountain Orchard
Stunning views below of the valley, fruit trees, and grapevines. A visit here would not be complete without a fresh apple cider donut(s), a cup of cider, and peach picking!
Three Notch'd Brewery
Great local spot off the downtown mall located in the IX Art Park. Craft beer and locally sourced food.
Bodo's Bagels
One of UVA’s go-to spots for coffee and bagels. Insider tip, don't ask them to toast your bagel!
Take It Away Sandwich Shop
One of our favorite sandwich shops is located right off the corner. Try the house dressing - it’s a must! We think their sandwiches taste even better when eaten on the Lawn!
Riverside Lunch
You won’t regret stopping here for a burger and fries!! Fun fact - this is where John asked Claire's Dad for his permission :)
Ivy Provisions
The sandwiches are delicious, particularly the breakfast ones!
The Market
Another tasty sandwich shop that YES is located in a gas station.
Farmers Market
Every Saturday shop from over 60 local vendors for local fresh produce, prepared foods, artisan goods, and more!
The White Spot
John’s go-to for late-night food. You’re guaranteed to find him there Friday and Saturday night! The Gus Burger is an absolute favorite. Or try the infamous Grillsworth, a delicacy consisting of two grill-fried glazed donuts topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
The Historic Downtown Mall
The Downtown Mall is a vibrant collection of over 120 shops and 30 restaurants located in historic buildings along the city’s Main Street.
