Thanks for asking! Children are allowed, but if they are noisy, the hawks that live in the area will take them and raise them as their own. The children will cast off all vestiges of human society and live as hawks. But since they can't fly, they will never fully be accepted into hawk society. Is that really the life you want for your child? They are welcome, but please make sure they are respectful and quiet. If they scream or cry during the ceremony, please take them back toward the parking lot out of respect for the couple and the other guests.
It's a fantastic Pittsburgh tradition. Pittsburghers really really like cookies. There's some ethnic/cultural history to them too, which you can read about here: https://weddingcookietable.com/history/ Please feel free to contribute your favorite cookies to the cookie table (include allergen information on a card). We will provide boxes for people to take home cookies. Yum!
What about the weather??? It's September, so it might be hot, it might be cold. We will be located at the edge of a gorge, so it can be windy. If it is sprinkling, we will still hold the ceremony outdoors. In truly inclement weather, we will have the ceremony at the Lodge in the Shay room, the same room in which the reception will be held. Remember that there is no bad weather, only bad clothing choices. Be prepared!
Dress code is somewhat formal, but comfortable! We will be outdoors! (See above) DON'T wear stiletto heels (the paths are mostly cemented, but the last section where the ceremony will be held is not) and DO NOT WEAR REAL OR FAUX FUR (we can't tell you why--it's a surprise). Don't forget sunscreen and bug spray!
That's not a question. Try again.
Instead of a photographer, everyone is invited to take their own pictures before, during, and after the ceremony. We will have a shared drive at Guestpix set up for everyone to upload and download with a QR code. However, please do not post any pictures to social media before we do.
Yes, but wait until after dinner.
The omission is totally deliberate, I assure you. There will be more questions added as time goes on. Please contact us directly if you have unanswered questions.
