Rewind to August 2014: Claire and Hunter were stepping into their first day at Bear Creek High School. They wandered into Mrs. Schnieder's math class and met, but this wasn’t the typical “love at first sight” story. In fact, they didn’t even really notice each other at first, and wouldn’t cross paths again until 2016, when they were both sophomores. But we’re still not at the epic love story part—hang on. In 2016, Claire and Hunter both found themselves at Warren Technical School. Hunter was studying automotive technology, while Claire was studying the beauty industry. By this point, they were pursuing other interests and were little more than acquaintances—at best. However, they slowly began to build a friendship, especially since they spent their breaks at Warren Tech together. Hunter, persistent as ever, asked Claire to lunch nearly every day, and eventually, they became friends. One day, during a casual conversation, Hunter mentioned he needed a haircut. Claire, with a smile, told him she knew the best barber in town—her mom. Little did she know, after her mom gave Hunter a haircut that day, she came home raving about him. “He’s one of the coolest kids I’ve ever met,” she said, talking about him nonstop every time she cut his hair. Claire, on the other hand, would roll her eyes and respond with, “Ew, Mom, Hunter is so gross!” Despite Claire’s reluctance, she and Hunter continued to grow closer. They’d walk to class together, wait for each other at the bottom of the stairs, and leave school side by side. Then, shortly after graduation, Hunter confessed to Claire that he thought she was cute and wanted to spend more time with her—outside of just being friends. Claire was very hesitant, still thinking he was “gross.” So, she would tell him she was too tired to hang out. But then came the text that would change everything: “You can sleep when you're dead.” Claire reluctantly agreed to hang out, thinking it would be a one-time thing. She figured that after spending time with him, she could say, “I hung out with him once, but I’m just not interested.” However, when Hunter dropped her off afterward, he said, “If I did this right, I’ll be back tomorrow.” And, well… he couldn’t have been more right. From that day forward, they’ve been inseparable—spending nearly every day together for the past seven years. On August 15, 2018, Hunter asked Claire to be his girlfriend. Fast forward five years to August 15, 2023, and he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. Now, on August 15, 2025—exactly seven years later—they’ll be saying ‘I do’ and starting their next chapter together! Through all the ups and downs, Claire and Hunter are now preparing for the next chapter of their journey: getting married!
