Claire & Erin's Story

Erin never would have thought that starting a queer hockey meet up in 2020 would have led to meeting the love of their life on the ice in 2022. Claire dropped in to Mpls Queer Hockey one morning looking for a new activity and was immediately enamored with Erin's warm presence and confident stewardship of the group. After flirting on the ice and developing a friendship throughout the season, Erin asked Claire to go country dancing. Claire believed this to be a date, although Erin did not intend it to be, despite leading Claire around the dance floor all night. They've returned to the same bar to two-step every Sunday since. While they had a clear connection from the start, they took their time and navigated bumps before deciding to go for it. On June 28th, 2022, Claire took Erin on their first official date where they had typical lighthearted first date conversation, such as marriage, babies, and building a life together. From that moment on it was set. In the past 4 years they've spent time playing hockey, traveling the world, enjoying live music, renovating 2 houses, camping, playing cards, country dancing, and getting a dog. Both of them were already community builders, they're so grateful to now share in the joy of that together. After months of planning, on January 10th, 2026, Erin brought Claire to Nerstrand, Erin's hometown, for a snowy hike. With Claire's moms and Natalie, Erin dropped to one knee and asked if she would spend the rest of her life with them. They are so happy you are joining them to celebrate their love.
