FAQs

Question

What’s the best airport to fly into?

Answer

There is only one airport in Charleston and that is the Charleston International Airport, which is about 25 minutes from the downtown Charleston. Uber/Lyft, rental cars, and taxis are all available.

Question

What is there to do in Charleston?

Answer

We’ve put together a list of our favorite spots around Charleston — a mix of historic landmarks, beautiful sights, and just plain fun places to explore. Whether you’re a history buff, foodie, beach lover, or simply here for a good time, we hope you’ll take a little time to enjoy the charm of the city! Fall in love with my hometown — and maybe help me convince Donovan this weekend that it’s time to move back to the East Coast!! Check out our Places We Recommend page for all our favorite spots. I may have gotten a little carried away putting it together, but I want to make sure you are never bored while you are visiting!

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

To assist with your planning, we have arranged a selection of accommodations. You are invited to explore more recommendations on our Travel page.

Question

Where is the ceremony and reception being held?

Answer

The ceremony will take place at Claire’s family church, St. John’s Lutheran Church. The reception will follow at Charleston Society Hall, just a short 10-minute walk (about half a mile) from the church.

Question

What time should we arrive?

Answer

Please arrive 15–30 minutes before the ceremony begins to allow time for seating. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6 PM.

Question

What is the traffic in Charleston like?

Answer

Charleston can experience heavier traffic on Friday afternoons, especially downtown and during rush hour. To be on the safe side, we recommend allowing extra time for travel and parking so you can arrive comfortably before the ceremony begins. If you’re staying near Folly Beach or Johns Island, please plan for at least an hour of travel time—traffic getting on and off the islands and beach areas can be slow, particularly on Friday afternoons. Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are also reliable options if you'd prefer not to drive.

Question

Where should we park?

Answer

There is a parking lot adjacent to St. John’s that is owned by the church and available for our guests to use. Once that lot fills up, street parking is available in the surrounding area. Additionally, there is a parking garage located on the corner of Archdale Street and Market Street, just a short walk from the church. Please note that Charleston Society Hall, where the reception will be held, does not have a dedicated parking lot. Street parking and nearby parking garages are available in the area. If the weather is nice, the walk from the church to the reception hall is just half a mile (about 10 minutes) and a lovely way to enjoy the city!

Question

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

Answer

Dress code is Black Tie. Tuxedos or dark suits and formal gowns are encouraged. Think elegant and evening-chic!

Question

Can we take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We’re having an unplugged ceremony, we kindly ask that phones and cameras be put away so everyone can be present in the moment. Don’t worry, we’ll share professional photos afterward!

Question

Will there be dinner and drinks?

Answer

Yes! Food stations, open bar, and dessert will be served during the reception.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate guests formally invited on your invitation. If you received a plus-one, their name will appear on your invite and RSVP.

Question

Are you registered?

Answer

Yes! We’re registered, and you can find the links on our Registry page. Your thoughtful gifts mean so much to us.
