Question

How do I get there?

Answer

You can type in the Capitol into your gps. It will take you to the front of the grounds. You will make a left onto California Ave and it will turn into Piedmont RD. You will continue onto this road until you see a parking lot with a guard shack in front of it. You should be able to see the Capitol grounds from here. You will then make a left into the visitor parking lot with the guard shack. The lot will have metered spots and you can park in any of those spots. You do not have to pay. Once you have parked and you start walking towards the Capitol, you will pass the veterans memorial. Go straight past it. You'll be walking up the side of the Capitol and you will see the Cultural Center on your right. To your left you will see an entrance to the Building. This is the Public West Wing Entrance. There is a sign outside the building that says west wing. Once you enter, you will immediately go through a Security Screening. Once you finish the screening make a right and walk all the way down the hall. There will be people and signs to guide the way. You will take the elevator to the 1st floor. Leave pepper spray etc. in the car

Question

When should we arrive?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 3:30pm. We recommend that you arrive 35 minutes early to leave time for finding parking, walking to the Capital and the ceremony site. This will also allow time getting through security and to enter the capitol building.
