April 10, 2023 but we would love to hear from you beforehand to plan accordingly!
The wedding ceremony will be held in the sunken gardens of the Santa Barbara Courthouse. It is an outdoor venue site.
We ask that you celebrate in style with us in Garden Party attire! For the ladies think formal summery dresses of any length & suits or sport coats for the gentleman. We love color and all the joy it brings and can't wait to capture everlasting moments with each of you in your fabulous outfits.
The reception will be held on a 85' luxury sailing catamaran called the Channel Cat. We will board the vessel at 3:30 and then sail down the California coastline. It is a spectacular view both of the water and the landscape. We will be sailing for the duration of the reception. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside.
Rain is highly unlikely, but in the event that weather interferes, the day will go on as scheduled. We will add umbrellas to the ceremony. And should anything prevent us from being out to sail, the reception will continue on the boat and stay docked.
Please see the travel and accommodations pages on this website for specific hotels and contact information. Santa Barbara is known for its many quaint and beautiful hotels. Therefore we have made several recommendations. There is a block of rooms at the Marina Beach motel and a 10% discount link for the Mason Beach Inn. All hotels are on a first come basis, and we highly recommend booking early. University of California, Santa Barbara will be hosting commencement that weekend and there will be an influx of families coming to Santa Barbara for the weekend.
At this point we have not arranged for transportation, since there were be several hotel sites. Check back again, as we get closer to the wedding. The hotels recommended are either 1.5 miles or 15 minute drive.
Yes, as we get closer to the wedding we will provide that information on this site and to you.
It is perfect weather for a wedding weekend. The average temperature in June is 74 degrees, humidity is 61 percent and average rainfall is 0.08". Santa Barbara is located on the coast and can sometimes be cool and foggy in the early morning and evenings.
Yes! Food and beverages will be served.
YES! The ceremony will be on grass but is easily accessible. And the boat is docked and embarking will occur at the Santa Barbara Sailing Center. The ramp to the dock and the ramp to the boat are both wheelchair accessible, as is the boat itself.
There are restrooms available onboard. There is also plenty of seating both inside and out. The boat hosts a newly renovated interior with lovely upholstered seating lounge. Charlie Munger, Berkshire Hathaway Vice Chairman, set out to custom build, at the time, the largest sailing catamaran in the world. Mr. Munger enlisted a boatyard in Florida to construct this beautiful 85 foot vessel. From the initial drawings done on cocktail napkins, to the inclusion of fiber optic lighting for custom-etched glass panels, to the beautiful birds-eye maple craftsmanship, Mr. Munger was involved in every step. Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for! If you would like to give a gift, you can have it delivered to the following address: 6810 Lullwater Road, Cumming Georgia 30040. A wedding card box will be at our reception.
We have allowed for a small break between the two events, which will allow for us to take pictures. We hope you are able to enjoy some of what Santa Barbara has to offer, maybe taking some time to take a closer look at the courthouse or even enjoy a walk on the pier. There is so much to see and do, we hope a little time in between will give you that opportunity.
Yes there is. For those interested we will continue the celebration as the new Mr. & Mrs. in the SB Funk Zone. This will be a casual yet fun night to keep the party going! We will begin the night at Validation Ale which welcomes children as well. (We hope this allows for everyone to start the evening with us)
We are so grateful to all of you that are planning a trip to Santa Barbara to celebrate our special day with us. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact Traci Nicholson (mother of the bride) at (805) 218-2072 or by email tracinicholson03@gmail.com
