On their first morning, they woke up to the sound of cow bells echoing across the sleepy alps town of Wengen, Switzerland. It was foggy, lightly raining and Claire was unfortunately coming down with the flu. Not an ideal start to a proposal. In typical fashion, Russell made them get up early to explore and maximize the day. Armed with enough camera gear for a National Geographic shoot, Russell made Claire hike around for what seemed like hours in search of the perfect backdrop for a photo that would be remembered forever. Leaving Claire to talk to the cows, Russell kept trudging forward until eventually he found what he was looking for. A few minutes later, Claire arrived looking puzzled by the camera and tripod already set up in the middle of a field. She walked into the tall grass and as Russell hit the camera timer, he ran through the field tossing her a framed photo of their dog, Kodiak. By the time she realized Kodiak was holding a sign saying “Will You Marry Us?,” Russell was already down on one knee. There was crying, laughing and most importantly, the next chapter of their lives had begun…all witnessed by a confused group of Swiss cattle!
