Faith and Claire met in Claire's mom's art class. They almost immediately bonded over Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, and the written word in general. They were all but attached at the hip throughout high school and have remained best friends ever since.

Joey and Kenny met while working together in the movie theater in Mayfaire. They share interests in poker, movies, and Super Smash Bros. Their friendship solidified on their road trips to Shallotte. Joey is the Shawn to Kenny's Cory and they have a bromance for the ages.
