Things To Do

Washington, DC has some of the country's best restaurants, bars, and museums so there's no shortage of things to do. Below are a few areas to try, but don't hesitate to reach out and ask for recommendations.

Dining in DC

There are SO MANY amazing restaurants in DC so to narrow it down, we've made a list of our favorites to check out. The list is organized by neighborhood but they are all pretty close in distance or a short Uber ride away.

U.S. Capitol Visitor Center

Washington, DC 20004

We recommend a tour of the US Capitol Building and the White House. You can book the Capitol tour directly through the CVC, or contact your Senate or House Representative's office to schedule a Capitol and White House tours. Leigh is happy to help connect you with your lawmaker's office and we recommend starting to book at least 3 months in advance.

National Mall

Washington, DC

It's a 4.5 mile loop from the US Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial and back, with all the Smithsonian Museums in between. Best part - all the museums are free! Some require tickets/reservations in advance though so be sure to check ahead of time. We can also provide suggestions, including which are best for little kids. We think the best way to see it all is by renting a bike from Capitol Bikeshare and riding along the National Mall to see the monuments. You can also book golf cart, bus, or segway tours. Also, we cannot recommend enough getting a bottle wine and a cheese box from Foxtrot Market for a happy hour picnic on the mall and to watch the sunset.

FRESHFARM Dupont Circle Market

1600 20th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

Best farmers market in DC. Amazing pastries, flowers, and food only available on Sunday mornings! Very dog and kid friendly.

Union Market

1309 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

Union Market has tons of restaurants, shops, and farmers-market style food. It's a great place to walk and explore during the day, and dine at night.

Eastern Market

225 7th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

On Saturday and Sunday mornings near the Captiol, the outdoor market is filled with local food, art, and gift vendors. We love to get a coffee and a bagel from Bulldog Bagels and walk around. You can also find fresh produce, meat, and pastries inside the market itself.

For all the days along the way
