Of all places, we met on the Bumble dating app…after much hesitation on Karissa’s part, she downloaded the app while out with a friend the weekend before Valentine’s Day in 2019. By Sunday, she had matched with Chris. After two dates beginning the day after Valentine’s, the game was over! :) From our mutual love of football, family, and the outdoors , to our similar upbringings and backgrounds, we quickly realized we were meant for each other. Chris is from Centerville, South Dakota, and Karissa from Farmersville, Texas (both school colors being purple and gold by the way). Chris is a hard working farm boy who played football at North Dakota State University, then moved to Omaha, Nebraska after college to work for Farm Credit Services in America as a credit underwriter. Karissa pursued her dreams to become a doctor at Texas A&M University, then onto medical school in Fort Worth, Texas and residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology in Chicago, Illinois. While in medical school, Karissa signed up to serve in the US Air Force after completion of residency. Her first assignment or station was at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska.... and that's where God, His fate, and His plan stepped in! After about a year and a half of dating, Chris then proposed after a camping trip to Valentine, Nebraska for Karissa’s birthday. Although it didn't happen when Karissa thought it should; while romantically camping underneath the stars next to a secluded river, or after a beautiful bike ride to a bridge overlooking breathtaking landscape, Chris decided to wait until we returned home.... and after a VERY long roadtrip back to Omaha, we ordered some pizza, got comfy, and while dishing up our plates, Karissa turned around and in the kitchen, there was Chris on one knee! :) Although not exactly as Chris had planned either, it was perfect. We now look forward to spending our day in celebration with you, and are very excited to see what God has in store for us!
