John started at Westminster his freshman year of high school, but it wasn’t until a marine biology trip to Hawaii in the summer of 2013 that we truly got to know each other. Between snorkeling, tide pool hikes, and backrow minivan conversations, something clicked. That fall, Callie asked John to the PDC girls-ask-guys dance, and after months of “will they, won’t they” flirting, John asked Callie on their first date in December after the dance. We went ice skating at Park Tavern (thanks to a Groupon) and were inseparable after that. We dated through the rest of high school until college took us in different directions in 2015, but we never drifted far. We stayed close—meeting up whenever we were both in Atlanta, sending each other Snapchats, and keeping tabs on each other’s lives. After John graduated in 2019, while Callie was living in Seattle, he moved to California. The time zone shift brought us closer, and our conversations grew longer and more frequent. That Thanksgiving, John sang a surprisingly heartfelt rendition (lol) of “In Too Deep” by Sum 41 at Dark Horse Tavern karaoke, and we kissed for the first time in over four years. That Christmas, we decided to give it a shot! The pandemic made long distance weirdly doable—monthly visits, endless FaceTimes, and a lot of patience. In the summer of 2023, John made the move to Seattle to join Callie and Hobbes, our sweet English Cocker Spaniel. In August of 2025, John planned a thoughtful weekend getaway to Snoqualmie. After hiking Mt. Si together, he proposed the next day with the mountain behind us. And of course Callie said yes :) Now, we’re building a life we love in Seattle, surrounded by incredible friends, a very spoiled dog, and a whole lot of laughter. We’re so excited for this next chapter, and we’re so grateful to have you with us as we begin it.
