Lanikai Beach is typical picturesque Hawaii. The most perfect white sand, refreshing clear blue waters and there are even turtles if you go deep enough! There's also a short hike nearby called Lanikai Pillboxes. We recommend making a whole day out of being in Lanikai, grab some spam musubis at 7-11 or poke bowls from Foodland for later, hike pillboxes, then jump in the water and spend the day basking in the sun. PS, the parking here sucks so it might be worth parking at the Kailua boat ramp and walking.
Sunset is our favorite North Shore beach! Okay, it was CJ's fave so therefore turned into OUR fave, but regardless.. we've found tons of shells and turtles just lying on the shoreline here.
We've done ALOT of O'ahu hikes and this is by far, our favorite one. It's not for beginners, but is doable with proper allotted time and dry conditions. We love that it's a moderately hard hike, but has spectacular views. Best bang for your buck kinda deal.
Their Shrimp Scampi is always a must when we come to North Shore. Their hot dog is solid too. Garlic x a million. Nuff said.
There's a dessert here called the Sweet Lady of Waiahole. It's warm kulolo (a mix of taro, coconut, and sugar) with cold haupia ice cream. Trust us, it's the best dessert you've had in a while.
You want traditional hawaiian food? This is the best you're gonna get. Unbeatable. Pipikaula ribs, squid luau, chicken long rice and complimentary haupia with salt and onions. *chef's kiss*
