In January of 2017, in the midst of Clemson’s run for a National Championship, CJ decided to take his search for love online, to the dating app Hinge. On the evening of January 2nd, one of CJ’s “likes” sent him a message that read, “Please tell me you’re a VEEP fan if you love HBO.” That girl was Bridget. After texting back and forth for a couple days, Bridget and CJ set up a first date…for a full week later since CJ was out of town for the game. They continued to text back and forth that whole week, up until game day. Bridget was convinced that the date would only go on if Clemson won the game, so she did something very uncharacteristic at the time - she stayed up late to watch the game, knowing the future of a first date with this boy hung in the balance. After a last-second win, CJ came home with a championship story, but also no voice to tell it, for their first date.   Bridget and CJ finally met for the first time at ChurchKey in Washington, DC, a popular spot for beer drinking aficionados that Bridget thought would be perfect for a first date. Little did she know, CJ was strictly a Bud Light drinker. Despite a few obstacles (a forgotten wallet and an Uber fiasco), CJ and Bridget spent 5.5 hours on that date, talking and laughing until the bar politely asked them to leave so they could close. After that first date, they both knew they had just found someone very special. And, as they say, the rest was history!
