How They Met

12.2013

Jeff and Michelle's story starts like a Lifetime movie - meeting in their hometown while home for Christmas. They went to a party together and while walking back to a friend's house down a dark road Jeff asked Michelle, "Excuse me... why aren't you holding my hand?!". They held hands the rest of the way home. After that, their paths crossed several times while Jeff worked in Africa and Michelle checked out the West Coast. They'd get together spontaneously, whether it was Michelle visiting Jeff in Phoenix, a last-minute trip to Vegas in 2017 (where Jeff told Michelle "I love you" in his sleep, allegedly), or jumping on a plane to Dubai in 2019. Whatever they were doing, giggles were guaranteed. In 2019, Michelle moved to Phoenix as Jeff finished his work in the DRC. They have made it through the growing pains of life and have built a strong foundation of friendship & love, and are more than excited to say "I do" to a life of adventure, growth, and fueds over who is funnier.

The Proposal

6.18.2023

Michelle and Jeff took a long-weekend trip to Pebble Beach so Jeff could join his father in playing some of the top-rated golf courses in the world, and Michelle could join her future Mother-In-Law for the kind of relaxation only the West Coast has to offer. Jeff isn't very good at keeping secrets, and after just closing on a house together Michelle knew the proposal was happening at some point over the weekend - just not when. The family sat down for dinner at Roy's, a restaurant with waterfront views, the infamous bagpiper, and an unbeatable sunset. Michelle was adamant that her and Jeff get a picture together in the sunset and didn't realize that she was forcing her own proposal. In typical Jeff-and-Michelle fashion, there were a lot of laughs, Michelle fumbling to get other rings off her left hand, Jeff placing the ring on her right hand... it was graceful and poetic.

Attire

We want you to be comfortable for the occasion, so we have opted for a casual cocktail attire dress code with a bit of a twist. We are kindly asking our guests to adhere to a color palette that will complement the natural beauty of the venue. For the ladies: A cocktail dress, skirt, or non-denim pants and a top that you are comfortable in will be perfect. The daytime will be warm, and it will cool down in the evening, so wear what will be most comfortable for the weather. For colors, we are asking our guests to dress in soft, earthy tones that mirror the natural hues of Sedona - think sage green, soft terracotta, dusty blue, or blush pinks. A color palette will be included on the invitations. We ask that you avoid wearing bright colors, dark green, navy, and black. For shoes, we suggest wearing what is most comfortable to dance all night in - the ceremony area does have some grass, but the majority of the area is paved or cobblestone. The reception and ceremony are both very close to the rooms if you are choosing to stay at Sky Ranch if a change or layer swap is needed! For our gentlemen, A suit jacket, sport coat, nice shirt with or without a tie, and non-denim pants that you are comfortable in is best. The ceremony area will have a decent amount of shade, and the reception area is covered - we will do our best to help you stay cool and comfortable! For colors, neutral tones such as light grey, tans, or soft blues will work wonderfully to complement the backdrop and our vision. We ask that you do not wear dark green, navy, or black. ---------------------------------------------------------- Please remember, while we hope everyone can embrace our color palette, the most important thing is your presence to celebrate with us. If you have any concerns about your attire, don't hesitate to reach out. We can't wait to see you looking fabulous and enjoying the beautiful Sedona scenery and celebrate this special day with us!
