Iconic to the Lynchburg Area are Sharp Top and Flat Top mountains. Nature lovers are able to visit both of these mountains at the Peaks of Otter Lodge which houses a restaurant, walking & biking trails around the property, and access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nearby the Peaks of Otter Lodge is the trailhead for Sharp Top Mountain, which is home to a moderately challenging 3.1 mile roundtrip hike.
Downtown Lynchburg is home to the Lynchburg Community Market, small shops and boutiques, and well maintained walking & biking trails. The Market is open Tuesday-Saturday and is home to local farms, artisans, vendors, and restaurants. Beyond the Market are other local businesses that call Downtown Lynchburg home. Some of Megan’s favorite shops include Rhodora, Lexie & Lee, and the Mosaic Collective. Accessible from Downtown is the Riverwalk trail system and Blackwater Creek trail system which have extensive walking and biking trails. If you’re feeling up for an adventure, you can even rent kayaks or bikes from James River Adventures and Bikes Unlimited!
One of Megan and Daniel’s first dates was playing mini golf at Millenium Park in Chicago. 4 years later and mini golf is still a go-to date night for the couple. Tiny Town Golf is a classic course complete with windmills, miniature buildings, and fun challenges.
Lynchburg is ranked as one the best areas in the state for disc golf. With courses designed by Paul McBeth, it is easy to see why Lynchburg is home to many popular disc golf courses. Megan and Daniel have personally played at New London Tech DGC, Falling Creek Park, and Peaks View Park.
An iconic central Virginia coffee chain, Joe Bean’s is a go-to for supporting Megan and Daniel’s coffee addiction. Megan and Daniel recommend trying an iced latte with their flavor of the month!
Consistently rated as the best BBQ in Lynchburg, County Smoak is the go-to BBQ spot in central Virginia. Megan and Daniel would recommend ordering the brisket with Boss’s Sauce and Mahogany Sauce.
La Carreta has been Megan's favorite Mexican restaurant since childhood! Her favorite meal is Arroz con Pollo, but everything on the menu is delicious!
Another Lynchburg staple, Mister Goodies is a locally owned ice-cream truck. Their trucks serve both soft serve ice cream and homemade hand dipped ice cream. Megan’s go-to order is Cookie Monster, while Daniel would recommend the cinnamon bun sundae.
Home of build-your-own cinnamon buns, Cinn City is great for both breakfast or dessert! It is the perfect spot for a customized sweet treat.
