Its a story as old as time....They were standing across the piano at The BriarPatch. Their eyes met and magic happened. LOL...Not Really! John sent a friend to pay a compliment to Ciro...Ciro told him that if his friend wanted to pay him a compliment he should do it himself. john walked across the bar and the rest is history. 25 plus years later they are still together. somethings are just meant to be!
John and i used to have a hard time remembering our anniversary. For the first half of our time together we always remembered the day after, if we remembered at all. One October night we were sitting at dinner at the Stables with a group of friends, we were reminiscing. About good times in the past. Well cocktails were Flowing and John kept talking about how the 80s and early 90s were the best times his life. After a wile i had to remind him that we had met in 1994. And that our life together had not been all that bad. Our friend Bill being the historian that he is pointed out that we had our first date at a going away part on October the 8th for a fried that was moving to DC. Bill also pointed out that that night we were sitting there for dinner was our actual anniversary. We all laughed about it but since then neither of us has forgotten our anniversary.
John has always been someone who loves surprises. For my 25’birthdys he planned a wonderful party at which i had a wonderful Time with friends and family. I also drank way too much. The next day a group of the party goers decided to take me to brunch. I was in no shape for lunch. But they were insistent and I felt that if i started moving around i could shake the hangover. What i didn't realize was that John had orchestrated the whole thing so that he could go to the pound pick up a puppy for me ( i has been wanting a dog but John wouldn't allow it.) Well long story short the dog adoption was taking much longer and my hangover was getting worst. John kept calling our friends asking them to stall. We sat there for an extra hour and then they wanted to go Christmas tree shipping. I was being a good sport but after looking at Christmas tree for an hour i had had enough. I told them to take home or i am walking so they did. When i finally got home John took me to the backyard. He had adopted the cutest little black lab mix puppy for me. It was the most amazing thing anyone had ever e for me. We named her Nalla and she was a part of our life for 17 years. I miss that dog.
