It all started with a group trip to the Pocono Mountains, planned by Jessica and her coworker. Her coworker noticed that the trip was mostly couples, so as the wing woman she is, she asked her then boyfriend (now husband) to invite a few of his friends. One of the friends that came happened to be Zach. From the start, Zach and Jessica’s paths kept crossing. When Jessica forgot to pack a sweatshirt, Zach gallantly offered his — with the very confident prediction that she would never give it back. (Spoiler: he was right.) Later that day, Jessica needed help pulling a glove over the wrist brace she was wearing. She approached Zach and with a sweet smile on her face and puppy dog eyes asked Zach if he could help her. He jumped at the chance to help, and he likes to say that was the exact moment he was done for. Today, Zach still teases that moment by mimicking a woman’s voice, “Can you help me get my mitten on?!” That night, while the rest of the group went to bed, Zach and Jessica stayed up late watching The Simpsons and talking until the early hours. By the end of the trip, Zach knew he didn’t want to leave things to chance — so before heading home, he asked Jessica out on a date. Two days later, they shared dinner at El Vez in Philadelphia. One borrowed sweatshirt, one glove rescue mission, and one plate of tacos later… the rest is history.
